Inventions: a solution to a problem
Inventions are discoveries that solve specific problems or needs. The reporter Pere Renom has a lot of containers in front of the window of his bedroom and very often is awakened by the sound of glass thrown at odd hours. Tired of this situation contacts an engineer to develop a soundproof glass container. The prototype is built and tested in the workshop Catalan Iron Industries in Sallent.
The report also explains the fractal antenna a Catalan invention currently include most mobile in the world, and a bed that moves laterally, and is able to improve sleep in people with mobility problems. But beyond the pragmatism, the invention can also be made for fun or by accident, called serendipity. Penicillin, Viagra, the post-its or X-rays were discovered accidentally.
