Coronavirus hotspots
After the first wave of coronavirus, many countries have relaxed containment measures and are beginning to detect outbreaks, to the point that in some places, such as Korea, epidemiologists are beginning to talk about a second wave of the pandemic. However, official data from the World Health Organization (WHO) show that, for the moment, the number of new cases detected is several orders of magnitude lower than that of the first wave and, therefore, we are only facing small localized outbreaks. If we use the fire metaphor again to explain the epidemic, the corrent situation would be: the forest fire is extinguished, and the firefighters are monitoring the terrain and putting out the embers and outbreaks to prevent the fire from resuming. We have the health system on alert, with many tests and the ability to detect and quickly isolate new cases. The Covid-19 has hot spots that we are cooling down.
